Obituary of Charles Baillargeon

We regret to announce the death of Mr. Charles Baillargeon, on Wednesday, November 1st, 2023 at the age of 79, at Notre-Dame Hospital in Hearst.  He is survived by his loving wife Susan (born Wesley), and his 5 children; Lisa Henry, Christine Baillargeon (Dany Gagné), John Wesley, Stéphanie Baillargeon and Gaetan Baillargeon (Vicky Baillargeon).  He was the proud grandfather of Delroy Henry (Mireille Gosselin), Chykeisha Henry, Jean-Sébastien Gagné (Jessica Gagné), Marc-Alexandre Gagné (Stéphanie Lemieux), Gryphon Neegan (Hailey Sutherland), Grant Neegan (Sophia Neegan), Jaxson Wesley, Danielle Taylor (Bruce Poulin), Kyle Taylor, Ashley Taylor (Mitchell Dunstan), Hunter and  Heidi Baillargeon, as well as his 4 great-grandchildren; Amelia Neegan, Niko Gagné, Kaled Gagné and Kody Gagné.  He will also be missed by his sister Margot Gagné and his 2 brothers; Gaston Baillargeon (France) and Maurice Baillargeon (Ginette).

He was predeceased by his father, Émile Baillargeon, his mother, Marie-Berthe Cloutier, his first wife, France Labranche and his 2 brothers; Marcel Baillargeon and Jacques Baillargeon.

We remember Charlie as a devoted, generous and kind-hearted husband, father and grampa.  He always put others needs before his own, and he would have given his shirt to help out anyone.  He was a proud grampa as he loved and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.  He also enjoyed taking walks with his dog Lucky.  He was a true hockey fanatic, at all levels and strong supporter of the Montreal Canadians, which he's seen twice in action.  He also loved going to see and was a huge supporter of our very own Lumberjacks as he cheered and enjoyed the game.  Fishing and hunting were also hobbies that he enjoyed, especialy trout and pike fishing.

Before retirement, he worked at Lecours Lumber for 55 years, as he was very skilled in many different areas of the company.  From electrician to dry kiln and carry-lift operator, there was no job too big or small and he was always up to the challenge.

Charlie leaves a great imprint in the heart of his family and friends, and he will be lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Fournier Funeral Services on Monday, November 6th 2023 from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. and from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M.

Il manquera également à sa soeur Margot Gagné et ses 2 frères; Gaston Baillargeon (France) et Maurice Baillargeon (Ginette).  Il fut précédé dans la mort par son père Émile Baillargeon, sa mère, Marie-Berthe Cloutier, sa première épouse, France Labranche et ses 2 frères; Marcel Baillargeon et Jacques Baillargeon.

On se souvient de Charlie comme un époux, un père et un grand-père dévoué, généreux au grand coeur.  Il répondait toujours aux besoins des autres avant les siens, et aurait donné sa chemise pour aider quiconque.  Il était un grand-papa fier, qui appréciait le temps passé entouré de ses petits-enfants.  Il aimait bien prendre des marches avec son fidèle compagnon Lucky.  Charlie était un vrai fan de hockey et ce, de tous les niveaux.  Un vrai partisan des Canadiens de Montréal, et il a eu la chance de les voir dans le feu de l'action à deux reprises.  Il aimait beaucoup aller voir jouer nos Lumberjacks tout en les encourageant de la foule.  La chasse et la pêche étaient des loisirs qu'il aimait bien, plus particulièrement la pêche au brochet et à la truite.

Avant la retraite, il a travaillé pendant 55 ans chez Lecours Lumber et était très doué dans plusieurs départements de la compagnie.  Que ce soit comme électricien, opérateur du séchoir ou conducteur de carry-lift, il était prêt à relever le défi.

Charlie laisse une grande trace dans le coeur de sa famille et de ses amis (es), et son souvenir restera dans le coeur de tous ceux et celles qui l'ont connu et aimé.

La famille accueillera parents et amis (es) aux Services Funéraires Fournier le lundi, 6 novembre 2023, de 14 h à 16 h, ainsi que de 18 h à 20 h.
